A Chair in Snow

A chair in snow
should be
like any other object whited
& rounded
and yet a chair in snow is always sad
more than a bed
more than a hat or house
a chair is shaped for just one thing
to hold
a soul its quick and few bendable
hours
perhaps a king
not to hold snow
not to hold flowers
-The mood seems to be presenting sorrow for the speaker seeks power in a chair in the snow. Saying that “A chair in snow should be like any other object whited & rounded and yet a chair in snow is always sad.” as if it is different, and holds ones soul for comfort. Throughout the poem the tone doesn’t change, it seems to be confirming itself, as if this chair is symbolizes loneliness. Words such as “perhaps” and “and yet” give that feeling of confirmation. What the speaker is truly seeing could be a metaphor or literal, but all in all it appears to give the message of ones lonely self being different, notice empower.
